Travelling with us

Solo Travellers

Travel alone or bring everyone you know! We love helping groups of friends or families plan a truly memorable trip. You can choose one of our set itineraries for your private tour, OR contact us: we can customize an itinerary to make it perfect — just for you! Make the most of your time in Morocco!

“Solo” means different things to different people…

  • Are you “alone” but want to join a tour with others? You’re welcome! Sign up for one of our scheduled “Join Me” tours and meet new friends. Or contact us for other departures: some ‘custom’ tours welcome others to join the group. Either way, you benefit from reduced group pricing, and there’s NO single supplement.
  • Are you “alone” and want to travel alone as well? You’re welcome! We can offer any of our scheduled programs as a private tour for the solo traveller. We can also create a custom itinerary tailored to your personal interests or needs. You go where you want to go, stay where you want to stay, and pay only for the things you want to see and do. You can count on us to have great ideas and suggestions to make your tour unforgettable. Just contact us for solo pricing.

Sample prices shown on our site are per person, assuming a minimum of two people travelling. Certain specialty tours may operate with higher minimum bookings. Solo pricing available for all tours.

Private Groups

We can arrange private tours for any number of people. We transport smaller groups of up to four passengers in 4X4 vehicles that can handle everything from paved highways to desert dunes. We also use 8-passenger mini-vans or 10 to 17-passenger mini-buses to transport larger groups. Your comfort and safety are our priorities. We’ll discuss the transportation options with you.

We can adapt any of our tours to any size of group, or customize a program just for you. We’re always ready with suggestions for itineraries, activities, or unique experiences to ensure your trip is never-forgettable!

Families

We’re family friendly! Children under five are required to travel in a car seat approved by the Moroccan government. We supply the appropriate car seat at no charge. You may not substitute equipment of your own.

We’ll work with you to make sure your children have a wonderful experience in Morocco. If you help us understand their needs and interests, we’ll suggest activities and experiences that they’ll long remember. If necessary, we’ll also adjust the travel schedule to take into account their ability to be in the car for extended periods of time. We’ll also recommend accommodations that are family-friendly.

Please see our Contract for Travel Services for additional information regarding family travel.

Accessibility

We do our best to make Morocco accessible for everyone!

If you are booking for yourself or for someone else who may have mobility issues, or for whom climbing stairs or walking on uneven pavement may pose difficulties, please contact us. We’ll then be able to be flexible in how we accommodate individual needs, provide realistic advice about the availability of options when it comes to visiting various sites, or be able to recommend accommodations that will also meet your needs. Please see our Contract for Travel Services for additional information regarding mobility.

If you have other accessibility needs, please contact us. We’re prepare do have an open and frank conversation about what you need, what we can do to accommodate you, and what is and isn’t possible as a traveller in Morocco. While it’s true that people of all abilities live in Morocco, “living there” and “visiting there” are different things. As a developing country, Morocco’s capacity to accommodate various needs, both for citizens and for visitors, is not at the standard North Americans and Europeans might expect at home.

Bookings and Reservations

We want everyone to Come to the Sahara! – and we hate to turn people away when their tour is full or dates are unavailable. So we need to be sure that you’re coming.

When You Book…

Booking travel with us means that the risks of travelling in a foreign country are acceptable to you, however you perceive them. Making a booking also means you have assessed your readiness for travel in Morocco to your own satisfaction.

If you book weeks or months in advance, we’ll ask you to pay a 30% deposit to guarantee your dates, the car, your driver, and accommodations (if booked for you).  The balance is due 30 days before your tour begins.

If you book within 30 days of your planned departure date, we’ll ask you for full payment to guarantee your dates, the car, your driver, and accommodations (if booked for you).

Failure to make deposit or final payments by the due date may result in the cancellation of your trip. Our request for timely payment is not arbitrary.

Deposit payments guarantee your dates and the availability of your car, driver and accommodations (if booked for you). Delayed deposit payments may mean that the vehicle and driver are assigned to other clients. Delayed final payments may mean that your funds don’t reach Morocco in time to confirm your accommodation and activity bookings.

We don’t want you to be disappointed. We want you to have your first choice of dates, vehicles, drivers, accommodations… we want everything to be perfect for you! Please help us make the magic happen – pay your accounts on time.

Your reservation is considered guaranteed once we have received full and final payment and a signed copy of our Contract for Travel Services.

The itinerary and associated price proposal becomes the basis of our service offer once you have approved them. When you pay your deposit, you signify your acceptance of the itinerary, the price proposal, our Terms of Service, and our Refunds, Cancellations, and Credits policy.

Eligibility

  1. Anyone over the age of 18 years of age may use our website and book our services.Anyone under the age of 18 is considered a minor, and is eligible to participate in our tours, but must be accompanied by at least one adult over the age of 18 and who has also booked the tour on behalf of the minor(s).

Our Responsibilities

  1. We provide a licensed, experienced, Moroccan driver who is personable, approachable, and competent in your language. In keeping with Moroccan law, your driver is not licensed as a “guide”. However, as your “host”, your driver is a local expert who can answer your questions, help you understand and appreciate local customs and culture, and generally facilitate your experience in discovering all things Moroccan.
  1. As a principled, responsible operator, we expect your driver to be trustworthy, reliable, and attentive to your needs. Your driver is paid a living wage, and we also pay a small per diem for meals and accommodation while away from home to ensure he is clean, well-rested, nourished, and safe while driving.
  1. We are responsible for delivering the itinerary you have booked and paid for, and for ensuring your accommodations and activities are available as booked. However, “things happen”.
  • If we have made a booking or scheduling error, we will do everything we can to make it right.
  • If the error is on the part of a third party over whom we have no authority, we will act on your behalf and in your interests to try to make things right. By using third-party services, you may become subject to the policies and practices of those third parties for which we have no responsibility and potentially no influence.
  • If you as the traveller have taken actions or decisions which have had results detrimental to your health, welfare, or general happiness, we will still do our best to help you overcome any difficulties you experience. However, we cannot be responsible or accountable for your actions and decisions or their outcomes, nor will we be held liable for same.
  1. We develop itineraries with the expectation that we can keep you safe while operating your tour. However, “things happen”. Road and weather conditions may from time to time affect our ability to follow the itinerary as scheduled. We cannot be responsible for delays, interruptions, Acts of God, or the need to alter the program due to conditions beyond our control, whatever they may be. You can be assured that under any of these circumstances, we will do our best to offer options so that you have as much control over your overall experience as possible, and so that you are inconvenienced as little as possible. In the interests of group and individual safety, your driver has the responsibility and final authority in decisions about trip continuance, and you will be expected to accept and follow his direction. Failure to do so may result in your removal from the tour, and cancellation of our contractual obligations with you.
  1. We monitor your trip: our company owner and/or administrator will know where you are at any time on your trip, and one or both are in contact with your driver at least once a day. You are welcome to leave a copy of your itinerary, complete with company contact information, with family or friends while you are travelling in case of emergencies. Your itinerary will also include address and telephone details for all your accommodations, and you will also have telephone contact information for your driver.

Your responsibilities

  1. Booking travel with us means that the risks of travelling in a foreign country are acceptable to you, however you perceive them. Making a booking also means you have assessed your readiness for travel in Morocco to your own satisfaction. This assessment has included consultation with any medical professionals as may be appropriate. We are not responsible if you find yourself unable or limited in your ability to participate in some or all of the activities associated with your tour.
  1. We expect you to know what you need to be comfortable and safe while travelling, and to manage your needs as best you can. However, we know that when you are travelling in a new place, you can’t always anticipate everything. We expect you to ask your driver or other Sahara Adventures SARL AU personnel if there is something you need before the need becomes critical. These may include but not be limited to the following:
  • If you have food allergies, sensitivities, or preferences, let us know IN ADVANCE so that we can work with riads and restaurants or other facilities to accommodate them. We cannot guarantee that such accommodations will be possible.
  • If you take any prescription medications or have preferences for specific brands of over-the-counter drugs, bring sufficient supplies with you. Your preferred pharmaceuticals may not be available in Morocco, or may be available under different trade or brand names. If you use medical supplies or devices of any kind, do not expect that supplies or servicing will be available in Morocco.
  1. Ensure everyone in your party is covered by emergency travel medical insurance. Trip cancellation insurance is NOT THE SAME as emergency travel medical insurance. We require that each person in your party be covered by emergency travel medical insurance sufficient to your needs. In keeping with Moroccan law, your driver carries a first aid kit with supplies to treat minor ailments such as scrapes, cuts, or sunburns – little more. You may use these at your own risk.

In the event of a medical emergency, you must follow the procedures for obtaining help as outlined in your emergency travel medical insurance policy. To the extent that we are allowed to do so, we will assist you in obtaining help as the policy or insurer’s representative directs.

If, at your sole discretion, you determine that you do not need to invoke the coverage offered through your insurance policy but still need to visit a clinic/hospital or pharmacy for non-emergency reasons, we may transport you to a clinic or pharmacy if doing so does not unduly delay the continuance of the trip.

We accept no responsibility or liability for any outcome of your decision to seek medical treatment or services outside of your emergency travel medical insurance policy, including negative effects on your wellbeing or on your ability to continue with your trip.

  1. We expect you to respect the culture and people in the country in which you are a guest.
  • Please dress comfortably, casually, and modestly.
  • Although alcohol is forbidden to Muslims, you will find that some people do drink, and Morocco has a respectable beer and wine industry. We will be happy to help you obtain alcohol for personal consumption at your accommodations. Please, NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOL IN THE VEHICLE or in public places.
  1. You must obey the laws of Morocco and accept the authority of your driver and any Sahara Adventures SARL AU personnel or designates in the interest of the safety and enjoyment of everyone travelling.
  1. Physical or verbal abuse or any form of incivility directed toward your driver, service personnel, other travellers, or other people will not be tolerated. Behavior of any kind that, in the sole judgement of Sahara Adventures SARL AU personnel, jeopardizes the comfort, safety, or enjoyment of fellow travellers, your driver, service personnel or others will not be tolerated. Any such behavior may result in your immediate expulsion from the tour without recourse or compensation.

Your responsibilities: travelling with children

  1. You are responsible for the care, comfort, safety, behavior and direct supervision of your minor (under 18 years of age) children at all times, whether travelling in the vehicle, or while in restaurants, accommodations, pools, playgrounds, on walking tours, visiting attractions or participating in activities, or while on the premises of any other business or facility.
  1. By Moroccan law, children under five years of age are required to travel in government-approved car seats. We will provide these at no charge. You may not substitute equipment of your own.
  1. When the policies of an operator/facility on children’s participation in activities or experiences they control or manage conflict with our own, the policies of the operator/facility shall prevail UNLESS, in our sole judgement, their policies are insufficient in ensuring the care and safety of our child-travellers. Our policies shall then prevail.

Your responsibilities: mobility and participation in activities

  1. We do our best to make Morocco accessible for everyone. However, we can only be as helpful as you are realistic and responsible. Please be forthcoming about any conditions which limit your ability to move independently, including prolonged walking, standing, sitting, climbing in and out of vehicles, climbing stairs, or walking on uneven surfaces. Please let us know if you have difficulty with prolonged travel in a car/van/mini-bus. We cannot be responsible if you have wished yourself into a level of capacity which you cannot achieve once you are on your trip. Doing so may result in your having to sit out certain activities or experiences, OR may in fact place your health and wellbeing in jeopardy. At our sole judgement and discretion, we reserve the right to disallow you to participate in activities where you could place yourself or others in physical danger.
  1. Participation in any activity, including but not limited to activities specified on the itinerary, is always entirely voluntary, and participation is always at your own risk and at your discretion. Always feel free to consult with your driver or other Sahara Adventures SARL AU personnel if you have questions or need guidance.

Rights and responsibilities regarding information and communication

  1. This is your trip: we want you to feel engaged in what is happening during your tour. You understand that at any time during the trip, you have the right to ask about anything having to do with the conduct of the tour or any of the activities being proposed.
  1. We want you to always feel safe and comfortable, even when seeing or doing new things. You understand that it is your responsibility to inform your driver or any other Sahara Adventures SARL AU personnel if you at any time feel unwell, unsafe, or uncertain about any activities you are engaging in, or in which you have the opportunity to participate. You will never be pressured BY US to participate in any activity unwillingly.
  1. Your program includes unstructured time during which you may choose to engage in activities of your own choosing. We accept no responsibility for your choices for how you spend this time, nor liability for anything that may befall you. However, as long as you are on tour with us, we are available to support you: let your driver/host know where you plan to be or what you plan to do during your free time. You will have contact information for your driver/host so that if you need help, he can respond – but only if you use it. Please carry our business card or the card from your riad/hotel so that others can reach us in the event that you are unable to do so for yourself.
  1. For your own safety, while you are in Morocco, plan to be “reachable”, particularly if you wish to explore on your own:
  • Carry a cell phone or other device through which you can be reached and by which you can reach others. Please share your phone number with your driver/host, and ensure that you have his as well. It is recommended that you install WhatsApp on your phone (if applicable).
  • If you do not carry a cell phone, plan to remain in the company of someone else who does so that you can be reachable through your companion if need be. Alternatively, ensure that your driver and/or hotel/riad knows your plan, and arrange in advance to meet your driver/host OR to return to your riad/hotel at a specific time so that there will always be someone looking out for you. Always follow basic common-sense rules for travelling away from home.
  1. You have a right to be completely satisfied with the information presented to you about Morocco and about your trip prior to the departure of your trip. By signing this contract, you agree that you have had sufficient opportunity to ask anything to satisfy your understanding of the nature of the trip you have booked, the services being provided by Sahara Adventures SARL AU, the services being provided by third-party operators including accommodations, restaurants, activities, and attractions. You agree that you are satisfied not only with the opportunities you have had to ask questions, but with the information you have received in response as well.
  1. Sahara Adventures SARL AU reserves the right to use respectful photographs, videos or similar images of you in promotional materials, on its website, or in other forms of publicly-accessible communications without notice.
  1. Sahara Adventures SARL AU is not responsible for any traveller’s lack of awareness of any of the foregoing Terms and Conditions. Sahara Adventures SARL AU is not responsible for any traveller’s failure to understand any of the foregoing Terms and Conditions or others posted on our website.
